Marisa Silos studied photography at The San Francisco Art Institute under Pirkle Jones. She also attended SCI-Arc, The Southern California Institute of Architecture, where the discipline of precision and refinement, the rules of perfection were learned by heart. She studied under Aris Janigian, Michael Volk, Terry Surjan, and Rose Mendez. These instructors greatly influenced this body of work giving Silos a key to the quality of precision recognizable throughout this work. Their strict voices were often in mind during its creation.
The work in its framed completion is done in collabortion with Architect, Stephen Pierman. Stephen saw in Marisa's work infinitely expanding horizons that needed to be allowed that expansion and not be confined by the enclosure of a traditional frame. His photograph supports allow for the expansion of a composition which is both contained within its subject matter and open to multiple horizons.
